Railway/Underground
Our railway experience started in 1983, when we demolished our first road over Rail Bridge on the Liverpool St Station to Norwich line as part of the original electrification of that route. Following on, we demolished a total of 26 bridges along the line for various main contractors.
This initial foray helped us to develop our bridge specialisation, expanded upon elsewhere, and rail infrastructure works.
We have worked on overhead line, third rail and underground sites, subsequently demolishing:
- Signal Boxes, both beside and above the lines
- P-Way Huts
- OHLE Gantries
- Station Buildings
- Platforms
- Rail Depot
- Footbridges-Steel, Concrete and even Wood
- Turntables
- Station Roof Removal, in a live station (Paddington)
In carrying out the works above, we used many techniques, including:
- Explosives
- Concrete Cutting-both circular blade and wire sawing
- Jacking and Sliding
- Hydro Demolition
- Heavy Crane Lifts-Single and Tandem Lifts
- Planned Collapse
We have worked in both Red and Green Zones
Having been Link Up approved since the scheme started, we are undoubtedly one of the leaders in rail industry work. All our staff is PTS certificated, CSCS approved and trained in competency by the National Demolition training Group/ConstructionSkills partnership.
