Gasholders
We demolished our first gasholder in the late 1970s. Since that date, we have now demolished over 200 throughout England and Wales, making us one of the most experienced contractors within this field in the country.
During this time we have dismantled the following types of holder:
- Above and Below Ground Column Guided
- Above and Below Ground Spiral Guided
- Semi-buried Column and Spiral Guided
- Man Gasholder (Internal floating piston)
As part of the demolition/dismantling process, we have undertaken the dewatering, de-oiling, and desludging of holders. For the below ground holders, we have also carried out the backfilling of the tank and other site remediation work required.
Some of the contracts have been on “live” gas production facilities and have required extensive protection of overhead and below ground pipelines and structures.
Our expertise in this field has been recognised by National Grid Properties, following our selection onto the preferred contractor list for all their framework projects within the United Kingdom. This framework was implemented in 1999 and has been renewed three times, with the present contract in place until 2011. We are one of the very few companies to have retained our listing throughout from the commencement to the present period.
