CDC Working with Nature

At Southport we were faced with not only three large gasholders to demolish but also with the prospect of a pair of peregrine falcons returning to one of their favourite nesting sites high up on the gallery walkway of the MAN holder. Close liaison with the PSPB was required to avoid the contract coming to a halt until after the nesting season.

The MAN holder itself was also a historical local landmark, even used by offshore fisherman as a navigation mark out at sea. The demolition of the structure therefore attracted a lot of interest and BBC North West paid us a visit
